Chembra Peak: Chembra Peak is the popular hill in southern Waynad. It is situated at an altitude of 6900 feet. This is the highest peak in this region. The climb up the Chembra peak is an exhilarating experience. Almost one full day require for going up and coming down the peak. During this trek, we can experience each and every stage in the climb unfolds great expanses of Wayanad. On the hilltop, we can do camp also and it will be the lifetime experience.
Neelimala: Neelimala peak also situated in the southern part of Wayanad. This is the dream destination for the trekker. Here the trekker found the various routes to trek. It also one of the famous viewpoints in the district, from the top tourists who can see the eye-catching view of the great Meenmutty Waterfalls.
Meenmutty waterfalls: Meenumutty waterfalls is located close to Neelimala, 29 km from Kalpetta in Wayanad district. This is the largest waterfall in the district, dropping from about 300 meters. Tourists can reach there through approx 2 km trek from the main road. The waterfalls are surrounded by lush green tea plantations. The waterfalls are dangerous during rainy seasons due to high inflow.
Chethalayam: Chethalayam is one of the best waterfalls in the district, located in the northern part. It is smaller than Meenumutty. But, It attracts a huge number of tourists for its beauty. The falls and the nearby areas are ideal locations for trekking and a favorite destination for bird lovers.
Pakshipathalam: Pakshipathalam in the dense forest in the Brahmagiri Hills. It is the finest trekking spots in Wayanad district. Here trekker gets to walk through a thick evergreen forest that provides a safe haven to some of the rarest avian spices. The deep caves at the northern end give one a great view of the biodiversity of the locality. The range of bird spices found here is unmatched. Visitors to Pakshipathalam are to seek permission from DFO-North Wayanad. It is a wonderful way to spend a day in Wayanad while being embraced by nature from all sides.
Banasura Sagar Dam: Banasura Sagar Dam is located in the southern part of the district at Banasura Sagar. This the largest earth dam in India. The Dam is placed in the foothills of Banasura Hills. The dam project area is the start point for the Banasura peak trek. One of the beautiful sights here is the set of Islands in the dam reservoir, which was formed when the reservoir submerged the surrounding areas during the monsoon season.
Karalad Lake: Karalad Lake is located in Thariode, Wayanad. It is the third-largest freshwater lake in Kerala. The tourist spot opened on all days from 9 am to 5 pm. Here tourists can take a ride on pedal Boats. Another attraction is the Zipline across the lake. The 270m long zip line is the longest in South India. Pookode Lake: Pookode is a famous fresh water lake in the district. The lake is situated at a distance of about 15 km from Kalpetta. The lake is spread over 13 acres and 40 m deep in between the evergreen forest and the Western Ghats. This is the perfect place for nature lovers and photographers. The perennial freshwater lake has the shape of an Indian Map. Tourists can sight blue lotus and numerous freshwater fishes. Bluewater lilies also can be seen scattered here and there in the water.
